Lara Quigaman new Ambassador of Anmum

A healthy pregnancy starts with proper maternal nutrition. According to the latest Family Health Survey (FHS) conducted by National Statistics Office (NSO) in 2011, some pregnancies become high-risk due to delay in seeking proper prenatal care and delay in providing appropriate medical management. In the 2003 National Nutrition Survey, it was also revealed that 26.6 percent of pregnant women and 11.7 percent of lactating women are underweight. Pregnant moms who are under-nourished may lack the nutritional capability to support their baby's proper growth and brain and body development.
Fonterra, through Anmum, is committed to improving the health and wellness of pregnant moms. Fonterra’s dedication is unmistakable as it continuously strives to develop new and better product formulations, provide a variety of flavours to cater to pregnant women of different tastes, and come up with different support tools, such as the new Anmum website (www.anmum.com.ph) and Anmum Pregnancy App (available on iTunes and Google Play).

Beyond these programs, Fonterra shares the mission of the Philippine Obstretical and Gynecological Society (POGS) of increasing awareness of women’s health issues through advocacy programs and education. Last March 10, 2013, Fonterra (Anmum) and POGS celebrated Buntis Day - Kalinga ni Nanay, Karugtong ay Buhay – the biggest gathering of pregnant women celebrating motherhood. Over 2,500 pregnant women gathered in different venues nationwide and joined Fonterra (Anmum) to celebrate. They enjoyed the different flavours of Anmum and even learned to stay fit during pregnancy through the Anmum’s prenatal yoga program. The Vinta cupcakes, made with Anmum, were surely a sweet surprise and touch to the event. Pregnant moms paraded their beauty during the Mutya ng Araw ng Buntis Pageant where Fonterra (Anmum) awarded the Anmum Fit Mom and 2013 Mutya ng Buntis. Aside from her beauty and congeniality, she got it right when she said that a healthy child starts with a healthy mom.

Fonterra thanks the more than one thousand pregnant women who participated in this year’s Buntis Day and looks forward to an even bigger celebration next year.
